A beautifully sunny Wednesday evening in Oban welcomed traditional music group The Poozies, a fantastic line up of four Scottish female musicians playing a selection of fiddles, guitar, banjo, harp percussion and voice. Performing traditional and contemporary music, songs in Scots, English and Gaelic this fab group played to a full house in Oban’s Corran Halls situated on the Esplanade. Senior members of Oban High School’s Traditional School of Music provided a lovely warm up selection of songs and great arrangements of traditional music- a talent bunch indeed, and a credit to this west highland town. The Corran Halls are situated in the centre of Oban and hosts many visiting musicians, stage artists,Ballet performances as well as local talent with programmes available on the Corran Hall website. Argyll and Bute Council’s Oban Gaelic centre Furan is also based within the Corran Halls, hosting workshops, Bookbug sessions as well as tuition in Gaelic. Check out programmes for both services during your stay in Oban, to add to your West Highland cultural experience. https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/theatre/corran-halls.
